What is National Police Week?
National Police week recognizes the work and sacrifices of police officers nationwide.
In 1962, President John F. Kennedy Jr. declared May 15 National Peace Officers Memorial Day. Since then, National Police Week and National Peace Officers Memorial Day have paid homage to law enforcement officers who have passed away in the line of duty.
What to Expect from National Police Week 2026
This year, National Police Week will be observed from Monday, May 11 through Saturday, May 16. Though National Police Week is commemorated in various ways across the country, Washington, D.C. hosts multiple events to honor those who lost their lives serving and protecting others.
The events in D.C. typically draw a crowd of 25,000 to 40,000, which includes officers from agencies all over the United States, as well as family members, survivors, and supporters. The principal organizers of Police Week include: The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund; The Fraternal Order of Police/Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary (FOP/FOPA); and Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.).
If you would like to support National Police Week as a sponsor, volunteer, or attendee, you can learn more at the National Police Week website, found here.

How can you recognize, support, and honor your local law enforcement officers?
If you are unable to travel to Washington, D.C., there are still dozens of ways in which you can express your appreciation and support of law enforcement right in your own hometown, such as:
- Thanking a police officer in person or by writing a note.
- Dropping off snacks, desserts, or a meal to your local precinct.
- Donating to an organization that supports law enforcement officers, survivors, and families.
You also may want to consider visiting the National Memorial and Museum at a later date or attending a future fundraising event, such as the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund’s “Cruise for a Cause” in August 2026 and the Connecticut Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Run in October 2026.
L-Tron appreciates Law Enforcement
The L-Tron team has partnered with law enforcement agencies for over two decades. We proudly back the blue by sponsoring conferences, teaching instructional classes, financially supporting non-profit organizations, hiring retired officers and delivering treats to our local precincts.
As National Police Week 2026 approaches, we would like to extend our deepest sympathies to those who are grieving the loss of a law enforcement officer and extend our gratitude to the officers who risk their lives every day to keep us safe.

Notes from the Team
“I always appreciate the polite professionalism I receive when interacting with personnel at the agencies I engage with here at L-Tron. The earnest desire to serve the public comes through again and again when conversing with officers of all ranks.”
– Craig, L-Tron Sales Team
“Although I’ve always respected police officers for the service they pay to our communities, my admiration grew significantly this year as I watched my sister undergo months of grueling training, studying, and testing to become a police officer. Now that she is an active LEO, I stand in awe as she chases criminals through the streets, talks down civilians experiencing mental health crises, acts as a role model to children, and is always there to support her fellow officers. To her and all of the police officers out there – You are heroes!”
– Carmella, L-Tron Marketing Team
