In the 1960s, President John F. Kennedy first established National Peace Officer’s Memorial Day as a day of recognition for members of law enforcement who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Shortly thereafter, Congress established the week in which May 15th falls every year as National Police Week.

National Police Week 2025 will take place from May 11 – 17, as friends, families, and supporters come together to participate in a variety of remembrance ceremonies and events in Washington, D.C.

How can I show my support during Police Week?

Even if you can’t make it to Washington, DC for Police Week, there are plenty of other ways to show your support. Consider the following:

Thank You, Officers!

Every year, the L-Tron team likes to share some stories of what the law enforcement community means to us. We appreciate the officers we work with daily, as well as those who we encounter in our personal lives!

“Working with Law Enforcement is something close to my heart and L-Tron has given me a really great chance to do so! I am a family member of law enforcement, by way of my father Lloyd Patterson Sr. (Center in photo) Dad, or Pat as he was known at work, is a retired Special Agent after 25 years with DEA (BNDD) 1969-1994. My great grandfather was a Lieutenant for CPD. I grew up with a myriad of stories about the day to day and how sometimes law enforcement isn’t easy. The idea that we provide equipment that makes “the job” easier and safer and allows Law Enforcement to stay safe and return home at night to their families is incredibly rewarding. I’m proud to assist all of them in every way possible.”

– Lloyd Patterson, L-Tron

“My most memorable encounter with an officer of the law started with a freshly minted driver’s license, and a not so freshly minted car – but it was all I could afford, and it gave me the freedom to visit a distant friend for far too many hours one day, leaving me with a long drive home well after sunset.

Naturally, the car was not up to the task, and I found myself in the nerve-wracking position of having to pull over and call AAA for a rescue – every inexperienced motorist’s ideal scenario!

Soon, I saw flashing lights in my mirror, and my panic level managed to reach a new high. Did I do something wrong? Was it illegal to breakdown here? Did I not pull over far enough? Hundreds of ‘potential violations’ ran through my mind as the officer approached my vehicle. Recognizing I was in distress, the officer assured me I was breaking no rules. He just wanted to confirm I was safe, and that I had been able to call for help. He then pledged to wait with me, which led to us talking about his long and storied career, and his excitement at his own rapidly approaching retirement. I got the impression he was as grateful for an “easy” roadside stop as I was to have him watching my back until the tow truck arrived.

And now, decades later, I find myself in a position to repay that officer and those that came after him. I’m proud to work at a company that collaborates with law enforcement and gives them tools that make traffic stops faster and safer, like the 4910LR, because I know firsthand what it’s like to find yourself on a dark stretch of road, just wanting to make it back home.”

– Ryan Gomez, L-Tron

“Based on my observations of friends and co-workers who are law enforcement, I can say that it takes a brave person with thick skin to do that type of work. Not everyone can do it, me included, which makes me super grateful for the individuals who step into that role to keep us safe. Having the opportunity to make their job easier by doing the work we do at L-Tron is really cool.”
