national police week

National Police Week and Peace Officers Memorial Day was designated by President John F Kennedy in 1962.

This week, we nationally recognize their commitment and dedication to our communities and safety.

“Enduring long shifts in dangerous and unpredictable circumstances, our Nation’s peace officers embody the courage and honor that represent the best of America.  On Peace Officers Memorial Day and during Police Week, we express our gratitude for the selfless public servants who wear the badge and put themselves in harm’s way to keep us safe, and we pay respect for those who lost their lives in the line of duty.”  – President Obama

During National Police Week, Officers gather in Washington DC from all over the world to attend events like the Candlelight Vigil, which is sponsored by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.

You can watch the 28th Annual Candlelight vigil here.

For a list of full events, visit the Police Week website.

We also wanted to say a special thank you to the Police Officers that are out in uniform protecting us on a daily basis. Check back daily to read our own personal thank you’s to our community’s Officers.

Thank you!
